Fort Lucian was used as an officers mess in World War 1 and Royal Air Force Head Quarters in World War 2. Between the late forties and early sixties the fort was used by the RAF as a bomb depot. It also served as a military prison in certain periods. In the fifties it was used by 100 Signals unit, RAF.
