Private 24273662 Thomas John McCREADY, 3rd County Down Battalion.
Killed 17 November 1974 aged 34. At rest in Drumlee Presbyterian Church yard, County Down.

He was shot in the chest by a high velocity bullet fired an PIRA sniper during an ambush on the mobile patrol at Newry, County Down. on the 17th November 1974. Two pedestrians, one a young pregnant woman was hit by bullets, but were not seriously injured.

Tuesday 11 February 1975 a 17-year-old girl charged with the murder of Thomas McCready in Newry.

He has two trees dedicated to him at the National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas, Staffordshire.
