Extended Description
Thomas John BINGHAM, Constable Royal Ulster Constabulary, murdered in the line of duty on the 31st January 1984 aged 29. while on mobile patrol in an unmarked police car along with Sergeant William Ritchie Savage when 1,000 lb landmine exploded under their car on the Forkhill - Newry Road around 1:35pm. Both men killed instantly with wreckage of car ending up in nearby field. 580m command wire to high ground was found. At rest in St Elizabeth Churchyard, Dundonald, County Down, Northern Ireland.
