A.XX.5 Thomas JACKSON. Private, 326037, 2/9th, Durham Light Infantry, formerly Private 5427, Essex Regiment. Born 26 April 1880 at Barnsbury, Islington, North London baptised 28 June 1880 at St Lukes Church, West Holloway, Islington at Barnsbury, Islington, North London to Albert George and Sussanna Jackson, ne Searl. 1881 - 1891 residing with his parents and siblings at 24 Nailor Street, Islington. On 13 January 1906 he married Rose May Griffin at All Saints Church, Battle Bridge, Caledonian Road, Islington. 27 July 1906 their first child was born Rose Maud who died with the year. They were residing at 24 Oxford Street, Islington, his occupation was horse keeper, dame as his father. 30 October 1907 his second child was born Frances Susan Hannah, her parents were residing at 3 Everilda Street, Islington, the home of his in-laws, still the same occupation. From 1907 to the date he joined the arm in 1916 no trace of him was found. In 1911 his wife was working as a domestic servant for David White, chemist and Sub-Postmaster, of 41 Clerkenwell Green, London
Also, in 1911 Frances, his daughter, was residing with her grandparents Maurice William and Frances Griffin nee Doy at their residence, 3 Everilda Street, Islington. 10 December 1915 aged 35 years, occupation washer, he enlisted into the Essex Regiment as Private 5427. He was posted to the army reserve the next day to await his call up. His residence was given as 74 Roman Road, Barnsbury, Essex. 22 June 1916 he was mobilised to join his regiment at the depot. 4 July 1916 he was transferred to the 2/9th Durham Light Infantry. 6 November 1916 posted to Salonica. At some stage he fell ill or was injured and was invalided to Malta. He died at St Ignatius Hospital, Malta 17th October 1918. His widow Rose May was granted a war gratuity 28 April 1919.

FOULKES Owen. Private, 203538, 11th Royal Welch Fusiliers. Died of his wounds, 19th October 1918, aged 22 years. He was the son of Leah and the late Robert Foulkes, of Penmaen Cottage, Penmaen Rhos, Old Colwyn, Colwyn Bay. His mother was granted a war gratuity on the 31 March 1919.
Some notes from what remains of his army record. He enlisted 10th December 1915 and was mobilised 18th January 1917. He was aged 19 years and 9 months on enlistment and was buy occupation a teamsman (teamster, working with land horses) on a farm. He was wounded in Salonica 8th May 1918, received shrapnel wound to his scalp and a fractured skull, and was treated at 31st Casualty Clearing Station. A telegram was sent to his next of kin informing then that he was dangerously ill at the 31st Casualty Clearing Station, Salonica. On the 11th June 1918 a telegram was sent to his next of kin informing them that he was out of danger in 28th General Hospital, Salonica. On the 19th October 1918 another telegram was sent to his next of kin informing them that their son had died of Skull fracture brain abscess at St Elmo Hospital, Malta on the 19th October.

Joseph SCARISBRICK. Private, 3033, 27th Casualty Clearing Station, Royal Army Medical Corps. Born in Darwen 1886 at Darwen, Lancashire to Roger Henry and Catherine Scarsbrick, nee Lambert. 1891 residing with his parents and siblings at 8 Eccleshill, Lancashire. 1901 residing with his parents and siblings at 9 Hacking Row, Eccleshill, occupation aged 15 years collier drawer lad. 1911 boarding with his wife Phoebe, nee Kay and daughter, Mary at the home of the Prime family at 81 Sudell Side Street, Darwin, occupation, drawer underground. His wife was a weaver in the local cotton factory.
Enlisted in Blackburn Lancashire. Died of an illness on H.M. Hospital Ship Goorka at Malta on the 18th October 1918. His father, Roger Scarusbrick was granted a war gratuity 13 March 1919 revised 12 December 1919.
