Stanley Joseph JOHNSON. Warrant Officer, Pilot 754519 of 255 Squadron Royal Air Force. Honiley

Son of Thomas and Marion Johnson of 24 Barry Avenue, Bucknall, Stoke on Trent.

He was pilot of a Beaufighter VIF X7943 along with Sergeant Wireless Operator Roy Fairmead Ellis. Both were killed during a training exercise near Snitterfield, Warwickshire 1 September 1942 when the plane dived into the ground during an electrical storm and exploded. He was aged 21.

At rest in St Mary Churchyard Bucknall, Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire.

Sergeant Ellis is at rest in Cheltenham Cemetery.
