Right from the bottom of the Nazi manpower barrel came these elderly fighters of the German Volkssturm, clad in assorted uniform remnants and tossed into the fight to hold Siegfried line defences before Saarbrucken. They are shown at the village of Fraulautern, Germany, after their capture. The ages ranged between 35 and 50.
