Guardsman 18740 Walter Stanley SHAW 3rd Grenadier Guards died of wounds 17th December 1916 aged 21 he was the son of Richard and Hannah of 71 Congleton Road, Biddulph, Staffordshire. In 1911 he was employed aged 15 as a coal miner, take off below ground. He is commemorated on his parents memorial in St Lawrence Churchyard, Biddulph and he is at rest in Grove Town Cemetery, Meault, Somme, France.
