Herbert SHAW DCM Sergeant 23127, 4th Division Signals Coy, Royal Engineers, killed in action in France 1st July 1916 aged 31. Eldest son of Joseph and Elizabeth of 34, Boughy Road, Shelton, Stoke on Trent and brother of Thomas who also fell.

Commemorated on a memorial in Hartshill Cemetery, Hartshill, Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire.
At rest in Serre Wood Cemetery, France
