Samuel McCULLOUGH. Able Seaman D/JX139461 Royal Navy on HMT (Hired Military Transport) British Trawler, minesweeper Olympia FY1586. Born 25 February 1917 to John and Isabella McCullough, nee McDowell at 3 Glenvarlock Street, Belfast. Killed in action 12 January 1940 aged 22 when his ship was attacked by an enemy aircraft. Ship hired 1939, returned to owner 1945.
Commemorated on his parents’ memorial in Plot B1. Grave 424, Dundonald Cemetery, Dundonald, Northern Ireland. Also commemorated on the Plymouth Naval memorial, Devon.
