RUSSELL Twins (HMS Formidable)

This memorial is in Crewe Municipal Building.

This memorial is dedicated to Henri and John Russell who served and died together in battle on the same ship. This incident started a debate in the Houses of Parliament to change the Naval Law that no brothers should be made to serve (unless they wish to do) on the same Naval Vessel. This law is still being enforced.
