Dedicated to the men of C Company, 1st Battalion of the Royal Leicestershire Regiment . Killed and injured by EOKA Terrorists outside the 65 Company RASC, Famagusta, Cyprus whilst returning from the Queen's Birthday Parade rehearsal 30th May 1956

The names of the fallen were

Private 22978337 Kenneth Michael HEBB - he was killed with two others on May 30 1956, when a grenade exploded in their vehicle as they were driving through the Varosha district of Famagusta. Aged 20 from Nottingham he is buried at Wayne's Keep, the British military cemetery in Cyprus, along with private's Attenborough and Argyle.

Private 23192033 John Thomas ATTENBOROUGH "C" Company, 1st Royal Leicestershire Regiment. He was born on the 7th May 1937 and lived Loughborough, Leicestershire. He is killed by EOKA Terrorists on the 30th May 1956 aged 19. He is at rest in Waynes Keep Cemetery, Nicosia, Cyprus.

Private 23192032 John Terence ARGYLE. C. Company, 1st Royal Leicestershire Regiment. He was born on the 29th April 1937 and died of his wounds on the 1st June 1956 aged 19 He is at rest in Waynes Keep Cemetery, Nicosia, Cyprus.

This plaque is at the National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas, Staffordshire
