- Ronald A FUNSTON Ex Private 24307709, Ulster Defence Regiment
He left the Regiment in 1978. He was the 38th UDR Veteran to be killed. He was shot by the IRA as he worked on the family farm in Lowery, near Pettigoe. Gunmen merged from undergrowth and fired eighteen shots as he sat in the cab of his tractor. His mother discovered his body. He was 28 years old and single at the time of his death.
