Extended Description
Born 1892 to Alexander and Margaret McKenzie, nee Slater of Shennanyon, Kirkcowan, 1901 with his parents and siblings at 73 Moore Street, Bootle, Lancashire. 1911 employed as a hall boy aged 17 by the McEwen Family at the Scots Bar, 19 Grosvenor Square, London. He gave his place of birth as Eston, Wigtownshire. Killed in action 23 April 1917 aged 25. His mother was residing at Shennanton Kirkcowan Wigtownshire. His father was granted a war gratuity 24 July 1918 revised 24 October 1919. Commemorated on a family headstone at Kirkcowan New Graveyard, Wigtownshire also commemorated at Arras Memorial, France.

Note. In this cemetery there are two family memorials both with same parents, son called Robert who fell at Arras in April 1917. They are not the same family.
