Died at Blackpool Victoria Hospital, Lancashire 14 April 1940 aged 27 from injuries sustained from being knock down by a motor car. Last place of residence 41 Myrtlefield Park, Belfast.

At rest in Dundonald Cemetery, Dundonald Sec. C.1. Grave 9. He is commemorated on the Windsor Presbyterian Church War Memorial, Belfast.
