NICKEAS Richard. Private, 1784, 1/7th Manchester Regiment. Died 17th November 1915, aged 23 years in Malta from enteric fever contracted while on active service in Egypt. The son of Thomas and Hannah Martha Nickeas, of 64 Bristol Street, Hulme, Manchester. A midnight star shines on the grave on one we love but could not save.
BOLTON George McKay. Engineman 1445/ E.S., Royal Navy Reserve. HMS Osiris, died of disease 17th November 1915 in Malta. Born 9th December 1873 at Lerwick, Shetland, husband of Catherine of 105 Summers Street, Aberdeen, son of James and Janet nee McKay In 1901 he was living with his wife and children at 19 Fraser Place, Aberdeenshire. Occupation, marine stoker.
PEDLEY Walter. Corporal, 2865, 1/5th East Lancashire Regiment. Died at sea on board Hospital Ship, Glencoe Castle bound for Malta, on 16th November 1915 from injuries received whilst in action at Gallipoli. Son of Adam and Rachel. His father was granted a war gratuity on the 17th February 1916 his mother on the 5th August 1919. In 1911 he was living with his parents and siblings at 86 Reed Street, Burnley. He was employed as a cotton weaver aged 16. He was baptised St Stephen's Church, Burnley on the 6th March 1895.
