Richard Denis KELLY

Extended Description
To the glory of God and in memory of Sir Richard Denis Kelly, K.C.B.. Colonel, 1st The Border Regiment who died 2nd July 1897.
The officers past and present erected the tablet to record his distinguished and exemplary services in command of the 34th or The Border Regiment in the Crimea 1854-55-56, and throughout ther Indian Mutiny Campaigna 1857-58-59.

He was the husband of Ellen Susanna Dillon who he married on the 2nd March 1848 at Temple Keiran, Meath, Ireland. He lived at Mucklon, County Galway and Kilash, County Roscommon, Ireland and Shrublands, Early, Berkshire. He died at Shrublands and is buried at Early, Berkshire.

This tablet can be seen in Carlisle Cathedral.
