ALLERTON, Richard. Squadron Sergeant Major 29272, 10th Reserve Regiment of Cavalry died 8th January 1918 aged 61. (Wills and Admin, Ancestry have the following) He lived at 39, Tachbrook Road, Leamington and he died at Warneford Hospital, Leamington. His effects went to Constance Hilda Allerton, widow. He is at rest in Whitnash Road, Cemetery, Leamington, Warwickshire.
His army record comprises of four pages.
He was formerly Sergeant 3048, 8th Hussars served in India and South Africa. Awarded the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal. 1889 and the Coronation Medal (King George) 26th June 1912.
He re-joined the colours on the 5th January 1915 and was posted as Private 29272 Southern Cavalry Depot . He was later promoted to Sergeant the same day. He gave his occupation as a musician. He was living with his wife Constance Hilda, nee Brown at 75, Southern Road, Bournemouth. He was married on the 17th November 1905 at Weybridge, Surrey. On the 6th January 1915 he was posted to the 10th Reserve Cavalry Regiment and he was discharged from the army on the 27th March 1915 to his home at 39, Tachbrook Road, Leamington. The cause of his discharge was a broken wrist, right arm, his health and age. He was discharged from Armagh Camp, Ireland and finally from Fovant Camp, Salisbury.
