The card is dated 30 October 1915 and reads.
Dear Ethel, We have just got back from a route march. Had to cook our own dinners on the road. I have just got your two kind letters of the 11th 12th inst. Im expecting parcel tomorrow, many thanks for same. Great to hear you are all well, we are alright here. Ive just got 4/- (Four old English shillings. In todays money that would be equal to about 20) from our Lizzie today. Letter tomorrow, Im hurrying to get this posted by four oclock. Fondest love to all Len.
Then written in different ink and along the side of the card: Just got your parcel now.
Given the date of postage I feel that Len is not letting on to his loved ones what the actual conditions where like. Over the years I have always hoped that Len made it to the end and arrived back home safely.
