RAF Sentinel R Mk1

Based at RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire, the aircraft will be operated by 5 Squadron, which has been re-formed for the purpose. The MoD's Airborne Stand Off Radar (ASTOR) Squadron will be able to operate at long distances, giving battlefield commanders accurate and up-to-date information about forces, infrastructure and vehicle movements.

Manned by RAF and Army personnel, the aircraft will be a highlysophisticated surveillance system.

Great photo. Do we still use these?
They retired from RAF service last year. The airframes have since been sold to a civilian company in the States and they're rumoured to he heading to the US Army. They started ferrying across to Tucson last month.
