PRICE-OWEN, David Roger

Lieutenant (Pilot) 404557 David Roger PRICE-OWEN, D.S.C., 769 Squadron, HMS Vulture, Fleet Air Arm, Royal Navy lost at sea 20th April 1953 aged 30. He is commemorated on a memorial of Molly OWEN at All Saints Extended Churchyard, Lapley, Staffordshire.
He was stationed at H.M.S. Vulture (Shore Base) Royal Naval Air Station at St Merryn, Cornwall. In 1937 it was originally St Merryn Aerodrome Ltd. 1939 the Fleet Air Arm took over. It was used to train pilots in the art of landing and takeing off from aircraft carriers . He was killed in an air cras in which he was pilot along with Midshipman David Baxter Enever aged 20.
London Gazette dated 18th July 1944 he was Mentioned in Despatches
London Gazette dated 27th March 1945. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross
