Victoria Cross citation for James Ashworth

Despite the ferocity of the insurgent's resistance, Ashworth refused to be beaten. His total disregard for his own safety in ensuring that the last grenade was posted accurately was the gallant last action of a soldier who had willingly placed himself in the line of fire on numerous occasions earlier in the attack. This supremely courageous and inspiring action deserves the highest recognition.

Liam TASKER. Lance Corporal 25139902 Royal Army Veterinary Corps attached to 1st Irish Guards On the 1st March 2011 was taking part in a patrol with his dog, Theo, when they were engaged by small arms fire, during which Lance Corporal Tasker was struck and died from the injuries he sustained aged 26. Sadly, on returning to Camp Bastion, Theo suffered a seizure and died. Theo was cremated At rest in Tayport Old Cemetery, Ferry Port, Newport Road, Tayport, Fife DD6 9AU. Grave H079
