Samuel Lewis POOL
Born 1889 died 20th August 1955

He enlisted 10th December 1915 at Stroud, Gloucestershire, aged 26yrs and 168 days occupation, grocer. Army reserve 11th december 1915 and mobilized 9th June 1916 and was posted to the 1st Garrison Battalion Worcestershire Regiment, and was transferred to 1st Garrison Battalion, Hampshire Regiment as Private 32964. and was discharged from the army on the 27th November 1918 as being no longer physically fit for war service under para 392 (XVI) Kings regulations. It was reported that he had 'Gassed shell wound, mild'. His service was 2yrs and 354 days. He died 20th August 1955 and was living with his wife Cobden Villas, Walkley Wood, Nailsworth, Gloucestershire.
He fought in France for the 19th November 1916 to 2nd September 1918.
He married Evelyn Sophia nee Baker (whose brother was Algernon Robert William, who fell in the great war) at Stroud 24th November 1910.
