Peter Francis LOW. Captain 95532, 2nd Royal Irish Fusiliers. Son of Francis Simon and H Dorothea Low, Strangford, County Down, Northern Ireland. Died 15th February 1942 aged 21 . At rest in Pembroke Military Cemetery, Malta. P1/R4/G15
15 February 1942 was one of continuous bombing of Malta by the Axis forces which started at 06.30 hours and lasted until the evening. At 17.50 hours a bomb fell on Regent Cinema, Valletta. Among the casualties were the Adjutant, Captain Peter Francis Low and the Officer Commanding A Company, Captain Henry Hugh Gough were both killed. Fusilier Haunce of C Company was also killed. The bodies were recovered and brought to Battalion Headquarters. This loss of the Adjutant Capt Low and Capt Gough, both very popular and efficient officers, is most keenly felt by all the officers and men of the Battalion.
