Some. notes from what remains of his army records.
He attested at Gloucester on the 16th September 1914 aged 19 yeras and 8 months as Private 3151, 2/5th Gloucestershire Regiment. He was posted to join the BEF in France on the 24 May 1916, invalided to England on the 29 June 1916 and discharged from the army as being no longer physically fit for war service on the 7 August 1916. He served 1 year and 326 days.
