Owen (Dick) BARRATT

BARRATT, Owen (Dick), Private 4574, 3/4th Royal West Kent Regiment Territorial Force died peacefully at home on the 26th July 1917 aged 35. He was the second son of John and Ann Maria (known as Annie) of 230 Mount Pleasant, Redditch. He is at rest in Plymouth Road, Cemetery, Redditch, Worcestershire.

He joined up on the 8th December 1915 in the name of Owen Barratt, he was then posted to the army reserve the same day to await call up. He was aged 34 and he lived with his parents at 105, Evesham Road, Headless Cross, he was employed as Press Worker. On the 24th March 1916 he was mobilised and was ordered to report to the Public Hall, Worcester for his medical after which he was posted into the Somerset Light Infantry as Private 23788. On the 8th May 1916 he was then transferred as Private 4574, 3/4th Royal West Kent Regiment, Territorial Force. On the 5th July 1916 he was admitted into 2nd East General Hospital suffering from Pulmonary Tuberculosis. On the 31st July 1916 he was discharged for the army under Para 392 (IIICC) Kings Regulations. His illness was not caused by military service and he was not discharged to pension.
