Issued to the 11th Air Assault Div. (formerly the 11th Airborne Div) This was a unit to test the new Airmoble concept using helicopters but the unit was de-activated and reassigned as the only Airborne Brigade of the 1st Air Cav.
Hey, Bill! We should be authorized those wings. We had to learn Air Assault OJT . The Sabalauski Air Assault School at Ft. Campbell, KY, is named after my old First Shirt in the 101st in Nam. A tough, 3-CIB, professional soldier, but a good man. I watched Westmoreland pin a DSC on him.
