The insignia on the front of the jeep appears to be of the second canadian corps however all references that I have seen also have a maple leaf in the center of the blue diamond as the pic below. It may be the Maple leaf is there but it has faded and is not visible on this photo
The formation sign was used to identify vehicles associated with corps-level units.
As for the senior officer riding the jeep I am unable to identify him at this time.
I haven't been able to confirm his ID either @Bombardier however, it's almost guaranteed that the maple leaf on the windscreen and also the officers left shoulder sleeve were blacked out by the censor of the time.
