BENNETT Charles. Gunner 153753, Royal Horse Artillery and A Battery, 160th Royal Field Artillery killed in action 23 October 1917 age 38. Son of Charles and Louisa Bennett, of Great House, North Nibley, husband of Ethel M. Bennett. Commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium

He may have served under the alias of JAMES Gilbert. Boy 1st Class J/34703, Royal Navy serving on H.M.S. Hampshire. Died on the 5th June 1916 aged 17, He was the brother of Fanny Edith Wood, nee Capener, of 28, Lower Darlington Street, King's Hill, Wednesbury, Staffordshire. Commemorated on the Portsmouth Naval Memorial, Hampshire.
His Naval Service Record (Ancestry) shows that he was born 6th April 1899 at Dursley Gloucestershire, occupation, Gardener His first ship was H.M.S. Impregnable 12th February 1915, last ship was H.M.S. Hampshire. His brother Percy also served as JAMES
