NEWTON, William killed in action 14th August 1917 aged 25. Sapper 143127, 477th Field Coy, Royal Engineers, he was the son of Rebecca Davies formerly Newton of 38, Reid Street, Crewe, Cheshire and the brother of Thomas West Newton. He is commemorated on his brother's memorial in St Matthew's Churchyard, Haslington, Cheshire His is buried in Duhallow A.D.S. Cemetery, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium
