Private 46835 Edward Hugh. MOOREWOOD, 16th Manchester Regiment. formerly 4196, 3/9 Manchester Regiment He died of shrapnel wounds to the left shoulder and back on the 27th and died in 32nd Casualty Clearing Stationn France 28 March 1917, at 9-30pm 23. He was the son of William and Bathilda nee Stephenson 70 Frederick Street, Denton, Manchester
Commemorated on a memorial along with Pte Arthur Ball in St Stephen's Churchyard, Congleton, Cheshire
Buried in Warlincourt Halte British Cemetery, Saulty, Cemetery,

He enlisted on the 27th October 1915 at Ashton under Lyme, gave his occupation as Coach Builder aged 21yrs and 7 months. He embarked Folkston 28th March 1916 and arrived at Boulogne, France the same day. and joined the 30th Infantry Brigade Division on the 4th and was posted to the 11th Manchester Regiment in the field on the 11th February 1917 was again posted to the 16th Manchester Regiment
