During the patrol, a local Afghan was injured by an improvised explosive device. As C Company were providing security, insurgents fired upon the patrol and Private Bellingham was fatally wounded near Khar Nikar, Afghanistan. At rest in grave 16704 New castle-under-Lyme Cemetery, Staffordshire.

On Monday 4 November, WO2 Fisher deployed with his company on a 2-day operation to disrupt insurgent activity in the vicinity of Kamparak to the north east of his patrol base. The following day, as a meeting was being conducted with Afghan National Security Forces, WO2 Fisher’s vehicle was subjected to a vehicle-borne suicide attack. WO2 Fisher was evacuated by air to the military hospital at Camp Bastion, where it was confirmed that he had been killed in action. At rest in St Giles Churchyard, Whittington, Staffordshire WS14 9JX.

Lance Corporal 9977 John BURTON Killed in action 18th March 1916 at Hooge, Belgium. 1st North Staffordshire Regiment. Always remembered. Born in Derby, lived at Atherstone, Warwickshire and enlisted at Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire. His widow, Nellie was granted a war gratuity on the 25th May 1916 revised 5th September 1919. At rest in Menin Road South Military Cemetery, Belgium.
