Extended Description
May BENTLEY. Nurse VAD. Stationed at Kandang Kerbau Hospital. Born 1912 to B and J. Bentley, of Convent St. Margaret, Bukit Mertajam, Wellesley.

She was a passenger on evacuation ship S.S. Kuala and was killed when the ship was bombed and sunk by enemy aircraft off Pom Pong Island on the east coast of Sumatra 14 February 1942 aged 30. She formerly nursed at Kandang Kerbau Maternity Hospital.

She is at rest in or near the wreck of S.S. Kula. CWGC have her classed as Civilian War Dead.
