HOLLIDAY Maude Elsie daughter of Annie and Sergeant 22305 George Holliday, 3rd King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, died 8th September 1901 aged 6 years. On the 31st March 1901, census date, she was living with her parents and siblings 4 Longcar Lane. Barnsley Her father was a Colour Sergeant. He was married on the 24th April 1892 to Annie Melhuish at Holy Trinity Church, St Peters Port Guernsey, rank was Colour Sergeant. He served in Malta from the 10th June 1901 to 7th March 1902, and returned to England the following day. He was discharged to pension on the 31st December 1904 after serving 18 years and 59 days. On the outbreak of world war 2 he re-enlisted into the same regiment on the 25th September 1914 aged 46 and 8 months and was given the rank of Acting Colour Sergeant He was posted to India on the 24th December 1915 to 2rd February 1919, He returned to England and was discharged to pension 3rd April 1919 with the rank of Company Sergeant Major. He originally joined up on the 3rd November 1886 aged 18 years and 10 months, occupation, wood turner. At rest in Plot 1 Row 1 Grave 5 in Imtarfa Military Cemetery, Malta.
