British troops have been helping Iraqi Border Police unveil their latest weapon against smugglers six fast marsh patrol boats.
Marsh boats are launched for the first time with the recruits getting hands-on training.
The vessels, bought with $250,000 of Coalition funds, will soon begin patrolling the waterways of Maysan Province a notorious route for contraband brought in from neighbouring Iran. Police from the Iraqi Department for Border Enforcement, trained and mentored by the British-led Multi National Division (South East), intend to stop them.
