LONGMAN, Gordon Bruce

Extended Description
Private 4/80333 Gordon Bruce LONGMAN, D. Coy, 53rd, Y.S. Battalion, Welsh Regiment died 13th November 1918 aged 18. He was the son of Harry and Annie Caroline of 108, King Edward Road, Swansea, Wales.

He is at rest in St Margaret Churchyard, Bodelwyddan, Denbighshire, North Wales.

He joined up at Cardiff 16th October 1916, occupation Grocers Clerk. He gave his father, Harry as his next of kin and on the 17th September 1919 the army sent him a letter with reference to the effects of his late son, Gordon, to 10, King Edward Road, Swansea
On the 31st October 1918 he was admitted to ward 17, of the Military Hospital, Kinmel Park Camp and on the 13th November 1918 at 1745hrs (5.45pm) he died. An internal death report dated 16th November 1918 stated that he died of double empyaema and cardiac failure, complicating influenza attributable to ordinary military service. (Infection received during epidemic at Kinmel Park Camp)
