LOCKLIN Stanley

Lance Sergeant 240355, Stanley Locklin, Sherwood Foresters, died 10th December 1918.
Son of William Lester Locklin and Sarah Annie Locklin, of 25, Elton Street, 25 Elton Street, Hadfield Town, Chesterfield.
Some notes from his army record. He attested on the 11th June 1913 aged 20 and his occupation was Coalminer Filler. He was Private 1979 Sherwood Foresters On the 3rd August 1915 he was appointed Lance Corporal in the field. Lance Sergeant 3rd August 1916 at Bramwell
On the 10th March 1918 he was admitted to 2nd London General Hospital, Kings Road, Chelsea to the Ears Nose and Throat Ward. suffering from double vision and violent headaches. He had an operation the 12th September 1918 in the sinus region where a portion of bone was taken for examination.
On recovery he had lost his sight but he regained it after a short time and the headache had gone.
On the 5th December it was decided to discharge him from hospital after putting some radium in his nose. On the 10th he started to get a temperature and his pulse suddenly got worse and at 5.30pm the same evening he died.

The Post Mortem
He had a large pituitary tumor.
The Optic nerve stretched across the tumor
Cavernous sinus invasion
Eo?? erosion of bone

Buried in Spital Cemetery, Chesterfield, Derbyshire
