BURTON Lewis Ambrose. Private 2850, 5th Norfolk Regiment died 24th November 1915 aged 19. He was the beloved son of Ambrose and Mary Ann of Crofton House, Hamilton Road, Cromer, Norfolk. Some notes from what remains of his army record. He joined up on the 9th September 1914, embarked for the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force on the 29th July 1915 on H.M.T. Aquitania, He fell ill in Egypt, and was admitted into a hospital in Malta from Hospital Ship, looks like,Sandon on the 13th October 1915 and he died of dysentery. He was laid to rest the same day.
