Leonard William NOTHARD. Gunner 150142, 10th Mountain Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery died in 33rd Casualty Clearing Station, Haifa, Palestine on the 25th November 1918 aged 28. Born in 1890 at Reading, Berkshire to Leonard and Mary of (1891) Howard Street, Reading. In 1911 he was living with his widowed mother and brother, John, at 43 Lawton Street, Crewe. He was employed on the railway as a labourer. He started working for the London and North Western Railway on the 2nd March 1903 aged 13 as a W.S. Checker!! He was transferred to Exchange Street, Cewe, Cheshire for fighting in the office. Husband of Annie, nee Davies who he married in 1912 in the registration district of Nantwick, Cheshire. She was granted a war gratuity on the 20th February 1919, revised 9th December 1919. Commemorated on a small heart shaped family memorial in Crewe Cemetery, Cheshire . He left a widow and two children, Olive born 1912 and Leonard born 1913 both born in the Nantwich district. At rest in Haifa War Cemetery Israel and Palestine (including Gaza)
