Company Sergeant Major Leonard Edwards. B/461227, Canteen Company, of the Royal Army Service Corps, Died 16th September 1920 aged 27. Son of Abraham and Elizabeth of Ecomic Cottage, Hazels Cross Road, Kingsley, Staffordshire. Buried in St Werburgh churchyard, Kingsley, Staffordshire

I have sent an e-mail to the CWGC with ref to the condition of the war grave and to enquire who is responsible for the upkeep.

I know it was a few years ago mate but did they get back to you, tragic to see a Military grave in this state
 
No they didn't. I will nip down in the morning to have a check on the stone. If not done I will get on to them again. Thanks for bringing this to my attention
 
Been down this morning, nothing has been done. The only problem I can see it was a private memorial. I will e-mail them to day, put my case forward and see what happens.
 
I think your right Alf, its a private headstone, perhaps there would be difficulties for the CWGC to obtain permission to replace the headstone with a military/Regimental one.

Had a reply from the CWGC. Because it is a private memorial, they are not responsible for it's upkeep or replacement.
 
That is a shame mate, hopefully a family member will see your photo post and get something sorted out
