Lena CROWTHER. Sister QAIMNSR.

Born 1887 in Yorkshire. She may have been the daughter of Edward and Sarah Jane Crowther, nee Sutcliffe.
1891-1901 residing with her parents and siblings at Nethertown, Brighlington, Yorkshire. In 1911 no trace of her. Her parents for this period were residing at Royal Oak Farm, Nethertown.
The surname has been transcribed as Crouther, although the surname has been written as Crowther

No army record was found for her listed on the National Archives Web Site.

Burial registration of freebmd shows Selina Crouther aged 29 in the Registration District of Edmonton.

Died at General Military Hospital, Edmonton, Middlesex 22 October 1916 aged 29.

At rest in Tottenham Cemetery, Middlesex.

The Passing Bell
Sister Lena Crowther who we regret to record, passed away on Sunday, the 22nd ult., after a long and very painful illness, received her training at the Edmonton Infirmary and left to proceed to India under the Colonial Nursing Association. When illness overtook her the Board of Guardians of the Edmonton Infirmary showed her the greatest kindness and she was nursed by her old colleagues. A memorial service was held in the Military Chapel, attended by the Board of Guardians, the medical and nursing staff and a large body of wounded soldiers. She was interred at Tottenham Cemetery.
