Another variation of the L6/40 was the Semovente (Italian StuG) 47/32. The L6 chassis had a built up hull - no turret and a 47mm gun. A third crew member was added as a loader for the gun. A few of these were made up as command units. A Breda 8mm MG was dummied up to look like the 47mm main gun. This freed room in the structure for more radio equipment. 19 of the 47/32 went to Russia where, like the L6/40, all were lost in combat.
283 of these were made prior to the Italian king's surrender - a further 74 were made for German forces.
Only one of these remains in the world - the US Army has it in static display at Aberdeen Proving Grounds.
A further comment on this pic... notice how the front road wheels aren't level. It very much appears the torsion bar suspension system for that pair has failed. That was a chronic problem for the L6/40 series.
