L220 FRANCIS JOHN RIDEWOOD. Ex-Chief Petty Officer Royal Navy. Born 18 September 1894 at Bath Somerset to Joseph Francis and Mary Ridewood nee Britten. 1902 residing with his parents and siblings at 26 Hat and Feather Yard, Bath. 1911 at Portishead Somerset with the Royal Navy aged 15 years. Husband of Teresa. Died Royal Naval Hospital Bighi, Malta 14th February 1948.
Notes from his Naval Record - He was born 18th September 1894 at Bath Somerset. Enlisted as Boy 2nd Class (Dev) J22978 on HMS Vivid I. On the 17th September 1935 at St Angelo, shore base (formerly HMS Egmont) Malta as pensioner Petty Officer. 21st August 1939 he was now on HMS Lucia and was promoted to Chief Petty Officer 23rd January 1944. 30th December 1945 he was discharged in Class A from St Angelo, Malta. He was awarded the following medals WW1 Star, Victor and British War Medal.
Unnamed burial. At rest in Plot L, Grave 220 Capuccini Naval Cemetery, Kalkara, Malta.
