L184 CYRIL HOPE BERRY. Pensioner. Born 1885 at New Brompton, Kent to James and Isabella Berry. 1891 residing with his parents and siblings above the butcher shop in High Street, Gillingham, Kent. His father was a self-employed butcher. 1901 he was residing with his widowed mother and sibling at Balmoral Road, Gillianham. Died at Royal Naval Hospital Bighi, Malta 22nd August 1929 aged 45 years of alcoholism and delirium tremens (DTs). Naval records show Cyril Hope BERRY. Chief Engine Room Artificer Class II, 272480. Born 25th October 1885 at Chatham, Kent. Enlisted 16th August 1907, Occupation prior to enlistment, boilermaker. His last ship was HMS Ceres on the 1st July, posted HMS Egmont (Shore Base), Malta. On the 15th August 1929 he was discharged to shore as pensioner. Awarded 1914-15 Star, Victory Medal and British War Medal.

At rest in Plot L, Grave 184, Capuccini Naval Cemetery, Kalkara, Malta.
