He died along with 8 other sappers whilst training on the railway were killed by a German bomb dropped on their billet in Church Street, Melbourne. 11th July 1940. Eight died at the scene one died later in hospital.
Died aged 24. Son of Stanley & Marion Dorothy of Erdington, Birmingham. " sadly missed by mother, father, sister Dorothy, brothers Mac & Ray of Birmingham, late of Liverpool"
