Kathleen Hewison WALKER. Sister 266754 QAIMNS
Born 1919 at Westray, Orkney Island Scotland to Doctor Ernest and Jamesina Walker of Westray, Orkney
Killed at sea on the 12th February 1944 aged 24 whilst on the SS Khedive Ismail. The ship departed on the 6 February 1944 from Kilindini Harbour at Mombasa, Kenya to Colombo, Ceylon in Convoy KR-8. It was attacked and sunk by two torpedoes fired from a B1 type Japanese submarine in the Indian Ocean, 1,297 perished. Commemorated on the Brookwood 1939-1945 Memorial, Brookwood Cemetery, Surrey.

Daughter of Doctor Ernest Walker of Meadowbank, Westray, Orkney reported missing at sea.
Sister Walker was educated in Aberdeen and completed her training at Forresterhill in October 1942. After a period of training in this country she proceeded overseas in September last (1943)
