K001 JOSEPH FANTER (FOUNTAIN)

K001 Joseph FANTER (FOUNTAIN) Wardroom Steward 107408, Royal Navy on HMS Surprise. Born 1st February 1860 at Vittoriosa, Malta. Enlisted 19 February 1879 as Domestic 3rd Class. Died 15th January 1903 aged 41 years of pneumonia, which he contracted in Naples. His widow was informed of his death 23 January 1903.

All naval and burial records show his surname as being FANTER but for some unknown reason his headstone states FOUNTAIN.

At rest in Plot K Grave 1 Capuccini Naval Cemetery, Malta.
