- Joyce Kathleen ATKIN. Nursing Sister 270574 QAIMNSR.
Born 1915 to Sidney Robert and Annie Atkin, nee Hickson.
She departed on the 6 February 1944 from Kilindini Harbour at Mombasa Kenya on S.S. Khedive Ismail bound for Colombo, Ceylon in Convoy KR-8. It was attacked and sunk by two torpedoes fired from a B1 type Japanese submarine in the Indian Ocean the 12 February 1944, 1,297 perished. She was aged 28 years.
Commemorated on Brookwood 1939-1945 Memorial, Surrey.
