TURLEY Joseph. Private 16798 South Staffordshire Regiment. Died 13th October 1915. Born at West Bromwich, Staffordshire. Son of Tamar who granted a war gratuity on the 27th January 1916, revised on the 29th July 1919. In 1911 he was living with his parents, Edward and Tamar, (nee Wright) and his siblings at 34 Holloway Bank, West Bromwich. He was aged 17 and working and electric tube factory.

CAPP Richard. Quartermaster Sergeant , 622, 1/4th, Northamptonshire Regiment. Died of dysentery 12th October 1915 aged 48 at Military Hospital, Tigne, Malta. Born in 1868 to William and Sarah of Market Place, Rothwell, and husband of Florence Alice, nee Whiteman of 74 Crispin Street, Rothwell, Kettering. On the 9th March 1895 at Holy Trinity Church, Rothwell, Northamptonshire he married Miss Florence Alice Whiteman. He was aged 28, occupation, traveller , son of William. Florence was aged 26, no occupation, daughter of Joseph. In 1901 he was living with his wife and two sons, Joseph William born 1895 and Richard Whiteman, born 1896, at 36 High Street, Rothewll, his occupation a clicker in the shoe trade. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boot_and_shoe_clicker.
In 1911 he was at 14 Fox Street, Rothwell with his wife, an elementary school teacher, and two sons, and he was still employed as a clicker.
Some notes from what remains of his army records.
He first joined the army aged 33 on the 21st December 1900 at Rothwell. He was living at 36 High Street, Rothwell, Northamptonshire, he was employed in the shoe trade. He joined as Private 622, G Company, 1st Northampton Volunteer Corps for a period of 4 years with the rank of sergeant. He was discharged from the army in 1904 termination of his engagement. On the 1st April 1904 aged 40 years and 6 months, he re joined as Sergeant 622, now with the 4th Northumberland Regiment, Territorial Force for a period of 4 years, re engaged for a further period of 4 years with the colours on the 1st April 1912. World War one had started he re-engaged, (embodied service ) as Sergeant on the 5th August 1915. He was appointed as Acting, Quartermaster Sergeant on the 10th December 1914. On the 29th July 1915 he embarked from Devonport on H.M.T. Royal George bound for Gallipoli. While at the Gallipoli Peninsular he fell ill with dysentery. He was tended in various medical facilities. On the 27th September 1915 he was invalided to Malta on Hospital Ship, Dunluce Castle along with other men suffering from the same complaint, some seriously ill including Richard. He was admitted into Military Hospital, Tigne, Malta, about the 1st of October 1915. He died on the 12th October 1915 at 5. am aged 48, confirmed by Lieutenant, Turner, Royal Army Medical Corps, officer in charge. His death was directly attributable to military service, the disease contracted through active service conditions on the Gallipoli Peninsular. .
His sons, both served in the Great War as 2nd Lieutenants in the army.
Joseph William CAPP was born on the 19th July 1895. He joined up about 1916 as private 12077, later corporal with the Northamptonshire Regiment. He was commissioned on the 28th September 1917 and served as 2nd Lieutenant with the South Wales Borderers. Married in 1920 to Catherine Winifred Jones. They were living on the 21st June 1920 at 24, St Peter's Road, Buxton, Derbyshire. Lived at 50 Cliff Road, Buxton, 26th January 1959 and died 26th August 1959 at St Joseph Hospital, Whalley Range, Manchester.
Richard Whiteman CAPP. He was baptised on the 20th December 1896. He enlisted on the 25th February 1916 Private 766510, with the 26th Artist Battalion, London Regiment. He was aged 19. His occupation was a student at Bede College, Durham. His mother Florence was his next of kin and she was living at 27 Rushton Road, Rotherwell. He was discharged from the army for the purpose of becoming an commissioned officer. He was commission on the 10th September 1918 and posted as 2nd Lieutenant with the 6th Northamptonshire Regiment. In 1921 he was still in the army. He died in December 1969.

HARRIS James Edward. Private, 10550, 6th, Lincolnshire Regiment. He was wounded in Gallipoli and died in Malta 11th October 1915. Born in Nottingham and lived at Newark, Nottinghamshire, son of Henry J.
