Extended Description
George Francis Jones Served in the Great War as Private 4428, Royal Welsh Fusiliers. He was the father of George Francis who was killed in action 1939 aged 19.

Some notes from what is left of his army records
He enlisted on the 25th November 1911 aged 22. and was serving with the 5th Royal Welsh Fusiliers, territorial Force. He gave is occupation as a Farm Labourer, then later as Coal Merchants Carter, and living in St Asaph. From the 24th October 1911 until he was mobilized on the 8th August 1915 he was at home serving with the Territorial Force. The 4th September 1915 he was at the Royal Welsh Fusiliers Depot, 2nd November 1915 posted to the 5th Battalion, 18th December 1915 to the 10th Battalion and on the 17th October 1916 to the 3rd Battalion.
He served in France from the 26th January 1916 to 3rd September 1915
In the England from the 4th September 1915 to the 17th December 1915 back in France from the 18th December 1915 to the 23rd August 1916, then England from the 24th August to the 5th May 1917. He then embarked for Alexandria Egypt from Southampton on the 6th May 1917 and arrived in Alexandria on the 31st May 1917. He was in Cairo on the 20th August 1918. He rejoined his battalion at Alexandria on the 11th November 1918 from Kahgar . He embarked Alexandria on the 22nd May 1919.On Board Ship?, 23rd May 1919 to the 9th June 1919, England 10th June 1919 to the 8th August 1919 when he was demobilized to his home, 1, Lester Terrace, Lower Street, St Asaph
He was in the Army Reserve from the 9th August 1919 to the 18th January 1920
On the 19th January 1920 he re-enlisted as Private 141875, 4th Royal Welsh Fusiliers at Wrexham, by this time he was married. he married Mary Hughes on the 17th July 1919 at St Asaph Cathedral and they went on to have a child, George who was born 6th May 1920 at St Asaph was killed in action in 1939. His occupation was then a Coal Merchants Carter and in 1911 was living with his brother Arthur who was a Coal merchant in St Asaph. His parents were Lewis and Emma of 4, Gemige Street, Lower Street, St Asaph. His wife was living at 1, Elwy Terrace, Lower Street, St Asaph
He was posted to the Royal Welsh Fusiliers Depot 5th February 1920 and embarked on the 5th February 1920 to join the battalion.. 12th February 1920 he was in Poelcapelle. On the 27th February 1920 at Zonnebeke. The 12th June 1920 he was at Ypres, Belgium attached to the G.R.U.! and on the 28th August 1920 he was with F Coy, still in Ypres
He was discharged surplus to military requirements not having suffered impairment since entry into the service. Para 392 (XXVA) King's Regulation at Private on the 14th October 1920. He had served 8 years and 289 days
