A war gratuity was awarded to his mother Elizabeth 6 July 1920.
Commemorated at Arras Memorial, Pas de Calais, France.

Died 03/07/1916
16 August 1915 at Stoke on Trent he joined up, aged 33, address 33 School Street, Hanley, occupation potter.
7 September 1915 he was posted to 10th Bn. North Staffordshire Regiment.
15 January 1916 he was tried by District Court Martial at Rugeley Camp, by Brigadier General Henry Edmund Burleigh Leach for the offense of, when on active service during his Majesty’s Service, the accused was found guilty of the charge and ordered to be imprisoned with hard labour for six calendar months. The sentences were variable of 112 days detention. Signed at Rugeley Camp 1916. At the time of his Court Martial he was with 10th (2nd Reserve) Bn. North Staffordshire Regiment.
9 February 1916 until his death he served in France.
Commemorated at Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.
